Business mums messageboard house rules

Welcome to Yell Ltd's Business mums messageboard house rules. The house rules exist so that everyone can get the best out of contributing to the Business mums messageboard. Yell reserves the right to change the house rules from time to time by publishing any amendments on the Yell Business mums website. You are responsible for regularly reviewing the house rules. By submitting a post you confirm your acceptance of these house rules.

Use of the Business mums messageboard by members of the public is restricted to over-18s only.

About your posts:
Please keep your contributions civil, tasteful and relevant. We're committed to providing an atmosphere in which constructive and mature dialogue takes place in order to provide feedback on the "Business mums" campaign. Therefore we do not permit the following:
  • Flaming. Unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive, or otherwise objectionable comments are not acceptable.
  • Swearing of any kind.
  • Spamming or flooding. Don't post the same comment to more than one conversation or repeatedly to the same conversation.
  • Advertising. We can only accept posts that are your own opinion or, where they relate to businesses, concern businesses featured in the Business mums campaign, or your proposals in good faith that your business (or a business you know) be featured in the campaign. We will remove posts where we suspect they have been made for a vested interest other than for these purposes.
  • Foreign languages. Posts containing languages other than English may be removed. Other users should be able to understand your comments and therefore posts with suspected hidden meanings may also be removed.
  • Impersonation. Adopting an inappropriate user name (one that is vulgar, offensive etc) is also unacceptable. Please note that we do not allow URLs to be included in user names.
We also require the following:
  • Only post your email address or personal contact details where there is a genuine need to do so for the purpose of business mentoring. Please also do not include anyone else's personal details. We reserve the right to remove postal addresses and telephone numbers unless they comply with these requirements.
  • Only include suitable URLs in your posts. Links to websites we consider unsuitable will be removed. If you are considering including a URL, please make sure that it adds value and interest to the subject of your post. Unsuitable websites would include those with racist material, pornographic or sexually explicit material, potentially defamatory material, anything which encourages illegal activities, material which infringes copyright, websites which purely plug or promote commercial products or services without containing material which enhances the subject matter, or websites which may offend our users.
  • Please don't post for suspended users. Anyone who posts on behalf of a suspended user may also have their account suspended. If we suspect that an account has been opened or is used by a banned user, the holder of the account may be asked to prove their identity. Failure to do so may result in the account being suspended.
  • Only make posts to which you have the copyright or other permission to distribute electronically. You may not violate, plagiarise, or infringe on the rights of third parties including copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal, publicity, or proprietary rights.
By contributing to the Business mums messageboard you grant Yell a non-exclusive, irrevocable right to publish, reproduce, modify and use your post on any media.

Yell is not responsible for any advice, information or offers made by third party contributors to the Business mums messageboard or for or any actions or inactions arising thereafter.

Your Comments

I've been in business for a year now, running Generation One magazine - a local parenting magazine in Hull and East Yorkshire. I started the magazine because I had no support network after the birth of my son, Charlie and I realised lots of other Mums are like me - in their 30s, away from their families and with their friends working full time.

My advice would be to not be afraid of being yourself, warts and all. I started off thinking I had to wear a suit and act like a candidate for The Apprentice. I've learned that respect for others and good relationships lead to good sales - not any magic hard sell formula. The magazine has gone from strength to strength because other people recognise what I feel. Sometimes you need to stand up and be counted. It's scary, but it's not all about numbers, running a people business is incredibly valuable too.
